When:

April 20, 2019 – Cliff Hanger Day (clean sides of mesa)     8:30 am – 4:00 pm.

April 21, 2019 – Mesa Top Day (clean top of mesa)             1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Orientation for volunteers will be held on Friday, April 19th from 5:30-7:30 pm at First Mesa. Location to be determined and will be updated as we confirm. 

Decription of Volunteer Groups:

  1. Cliff Hangers; Led by Marshal Masayesva and will consist of 4 team leads and 10 volunteers assigned to each team, to clean down the mesa.
  2. Mesa Top Crew; Families of all ages to collect trash and bag it on top of mesa from Tewa to Walpi.
  3. Trash Separators; Led by Jack and Georgie Pongyesva, this group will separate recyclable items from trash. Must be able to lift up to 30-50 lbs. of bulk trash. 
  4. Serving Crew; Prepare food, serving, set up/break down, and clean up.
  5. Registration; Led by Lori Nuvayestewa and crew will be responsible for registering volunteers, provide orientation, and distribute/collect supplies. 
  6. First Aid Station; Will manage the on-sight first aid station for the health and safety of our volunteers. Must be certified in CPR and know first aid basics.                                                         
  7. Trash Collectors; Will be picking up bags of trash and hauling to the old rodeo grounds (by Tewa CD) and unloading. Must be able to lift 30-50lbs, have a valid drivers license, and be skilled at driving with a trailer/flatbed.

Dress appropriately with long sleeve shirt, pants, and sturdy shoes or boots. Bring a light jacket, cap, leather gloves, and a water bottle.

Please consider carpooling to this event as we are limited with parking space and want to deter traffic as much as possible in the area we are cleaning. Parking and shuttle pick-up will be located at lower water tank at 8 am. Shuttle back down mesa will be after event ends.

All donated items can be brought to Evangeline Nuvayestewa's residence at Tewa Village. Corn Clan house directly across from the kiva, Tewa plaza.
